Professor Zhang Baosheng delivered a keynote speech entitled "Information from Two New Books in the Translation Series of Evidence Science", promoting the two new books. Subsequently, Professor Zhang Baosheng pointed out four characteristics of the guidelines for scientific evaluation reports in European courts. Firstly, the Guidelines provide a unified standard for forensic science in Europe. Secondly, the conditions and principles for producing a scientific evaluation report in the court. Thirdly, there are four requirements for the scientific evaluation report of the court: balance, logicality, robustness, and transparency. Fourthly, the assignment and interpretation of the Likelihood ratio. The inspiration or reflection brought by this book is whether the scientific standards of Chinese courts should unify the conditions and principles for producing appraisal opinions, and carefully study the advantages and disadvantages of using likelihood ratio as the principle for producing judicial appraisal opinions.
The seminar is divided into three parts: an interactive session for authors and translators, a new book release session, and a Chinese translator session. The attending experts and scholars had extensive and in-depth exchanges on the general theory and methodology of evidence science, the philosophical foundation of evidence law, statistics in forensic science, forensic science, evaluation methods for forensic appraisal reports, and issues related to the 11 volume set of translations of evidence science.
