Shocked to learn that Professor Michele Taruffo passed away in Italy, all colleagues at the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science of China University of Political Science and Law are extremely grieved.

Professor Taruffo is a world-class jurist, whose research field covers evidence law and procedural law, enjoying a high status in civil law system, common law system and especially Latin law system. His academic research has greatly promoted the international comparative study of procedural law and evidence law, and has become a banner in the field of evidence law in civil law countries. From his monumental works and wonderful lectures, we are impressed by the profound attainments of international academic master and his persistent pursuit of academic research.

Professor Taruffo is a member of our Consultative Committee of Foreign Experts, who has made great contributions to the establishment and development of our Institute. He has participated in the International Conference on Evidence Law and Forensic Science organized by our Institute several times, offered international courses and lectures to our students for many times, and provided selfless assistance to the research and talent training of evidence law in China. As the vice chairman of the International Association of Evidence Science initiated by our Institute, Professor Taruffo has made outstanding contributions to strengthening international exchanges and cooperation in evidence science research.

Professor Taruffo 's death is a great loss to the international evidence law, and we have also lost a close mentor. At this grieved moment, we would like to extend our sincere regards and deep condolences to Professor Taruffo 's relatives.
