John Henry Wigmore Professor Ronald J. Allen from U.S. Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law Delivered a Course on Topic of "Advanced Lectures on Evidence law"

Invited by "Construction of World-class Universities and World-class Disciplines", "111 Plan" Base for Evidence Science Innovation and Talent Recruitment and Key Laboratory of Evidence Science (Ministry of Education), CUPL, John Henry Wigmore Professor Ronald J. Allen from U.S. Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, successfully delivered a course on Advanced Lectures on Evidence Law for students in CUPL from March 25th to 29th, 2018.

This year, as an advanced course on evidence law, this lecture involved not only the Federal Rules of Evidence and its basic principles, but also the fronts of evidence science, which revealed the research trends in the field of evidence. The whole class was divided into 3 groups by Prof. Allen for discussion and raising questions, which created a heuristic and interactive environment for teaching and learning. Prof. Allen delivered courses both from theoretical and practical perspectives, which endowed students with a deeper understanding of evidence science. Through debating about the rules and their underlying theories, students learned a lot from this lecture.

Prof. Allen's lecture is very popular with our teachers and students. Those who attended this course covered teachers, graduate students and PhD students from different schools including Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science ("IELFS"), Procedural Law Research Institute, College of Comparative Law of CUPL, and Guangming School of Journalism and Communication. Students and teachers outside Beijing also took an especial trip to attend his course. The new perspectives and ideas raised by Prof. Allen served as an important guidance for our students in studying evidence law.
