On March 2nd, 2015, a press conference was held at CUPL to mark the publication of The Judicial Civilization Index 2014. More than 50 experts of jurisprudential field and legal practice, scholars and journalists, attended it. Professors from the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science actively participated in this event. During the conference, Professor Baosheng Zhang, vice president of CUPL and co-director of the Collaboration Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization, outlined the function, character and the system of “The Judicial Civilization Index 2014” to the audience. Other famous jurists, such as Wenxian Zhang, Zhongguang Chen, and Chongyi Fan, attended and delivered speeches.
“The Judicial Civilization Index” is an assessment tool for showing levels of civilization of different areas. Published by CUPL, it covers aspects of civilization through the questioning of more than 7200 people from nine provinces by ranking 10 Primary Indexes and 50 Secondary Indexes. Functioning as a mirror, “The Judicial Civilization Index 2014” is essential material for civilization establishments, as well as providing a basis for civilization research by scholars.
Investigation for “The Judicial Civilization Index 2015” will be expanded to cover 20 provinces. From 2016, 31 provinces will form the coverage area of “The Judicial Civilization Index” investigation.
