July 7th, 2015, Dr. Henry C. Lee, an internationally renowned criminal forensic expert, visited Fada Institute of Forensic Medicine and Science. Professor Baosheng Zhang, co-chair of the “2011 Plan” – China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization and honorary dean of the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science, CUPL (“Evidence Law Institute”), Professor Chang Lin, dean of the Evidence Institute and director of Fada Institute of Forensic Medicine and Science, Professor Liu Jianwei and Mr. Guo Zhaoming, deputy directors of Fada Institute of Forensic Medicine & Science gave him a warm welcome and had a insightful discussion.

 

Accompanied by the leaders of the Evidence Institute, Dr. Lee visited department of forensic medicine, department of material evidence technology and related functional areas one by one. He had brief exchanges and communication with office staff and offered pertinent and professional opinions and suggestions. At the same time, Doctor Lee expressed high praise for the laboratory constructions of the Institute.

During the discussion, Dean Chang Lin first warmly welcomed Doctor Lee’s visit and exchange with the Evidence Institute and then thanked him for his long-term attention and guidance. Later, Guo Zhaoming, deputy director of Fada Institute of Forensic Medicine & Science introduced the current situation of the institute in terms of the platform of judicial identification, discipline and talents training, innovation of team building and the development of judicial identification. Doctor Lee said that as a national judicial identification institution, Fada Institute of Forensic Medicine & Science has made significant progress and had great effect on the scientification, standardization and legalization of China’s judicial identification and the construction of the culture of Chinese forensic science, hoping that the Institute will lead the development of judicial identification industry of China. Doctor Lee also proposed many constructive suggestions from the perspective of the current international development and situation of forensic science industry. He also expressed that he will donate his personal collection of materials of well-known cases, manuscripts and other multiple copies of precious collections to the Museum of Forensic Science located in the Institute.  

Finally, Professor Zhang Baosheng expressed his gratitude to Doctor Lee and his wife Ms. Song Miaojuan, hoping that Doctor Lee will help the construction of “2011 Plan” – China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization and the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science, CUPL and make joint efforts to the development of Chinese forensic science.

 

Li Changyu (Henry Chang-Yu Lee), born in Rugao, Jiangsu in 1938, Chinese American, known as the “ forensic detective”, international criminal forensic expert, chief Emeritus for Scientific Services in Connecticut, USA, and tenured and full time professor in University of New Haven. Dr. Lee has won a total of about eight hundred honors, including: Outstanding Service Award in Criminal Field, which is the highest honor issued by American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Outstanding Achievement Award, Lifetime Honorary Award and World Outstanding Chinese Award.
