Master of Law graduates successfully received funding for a doctoral degree from University of Lausanne

December 20, 2016, a master student of Law majored in forensic science named Lei Lei, who graduated in 2014, received her doctoral admission notice of the University of Lausanne. She would start her study in May 2017 and carry out her forensic science doctoral dissertation under the guidance of Professor Genevieve Massonnet from UNIL. She will also be funded by the UNIL amount to 1.25 million RMB. That is the largest amount of foreign scholarships that our students have ever received.   

Lei Lei obtained her bachelor’s degree in the major of criminal investigation in 2011 from China University of Political Science and Law. After then she became a master student of Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science and guided by Professor Yuanfeng Wang in the field of paint evidence in traffic accident cases. During the graduate, her diligent attitude towards study, intelligent understanding skill and solid legal science knowledge left a deep impression to the teachers. Especially, when Professor Genevieve Massonnet visited our school in 2013, Lei Lei's excellent performance in professional and comprehensive abilities laid a solid foundation for the follow-up doctoral application.

University of Lausanne has the world-class forensic science, known as the cradle of Holmes in Europe. After a century of development, the University of Lausanne has already been among the forefront of modern forensic science.In 2012, China University of Political Science and Law signed a framework cooperation agreement with the University of Lausanne on student education. December 9, 2013, Sino Swiss Evidence Science Research Center, one of the institute of the "2011 Plan" China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization officially unveiled. This Research Center builts a platform for cooperation and exchange between China University of Political Science and Law and the University of Lausanne. Up to now, the Sino Swiss Evidence Science Research Center has successively recommended three doctoral students from China to the University of Lausanne, including Natalia Paulowska (former foreign staff of Forensic Civilization Collaboration Innovation Center), Xiaohong Chen (senior engineer of Ministry of Justice Forensic Science and Technology Institute) and Lei Lei, achieving a breakthrough in the field of professional personnel training in forensic science in China. This is also a successful expansion of cooperation between the two universities in addition to jointly organizing international conferences, cooperatively developing international courses and other aspects of cooperation.
