The Senior Seminar on “the Revise of The Law on Lawyers and The Management of Lawyer Industry” was successfully held on June 24 in Shunyi District, Beijing. It was co-held by the "2011 Plan" - China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization, Research Center of Lawyers Science of China University of Political Science and Law, Institute of Lawyers Science under China Law Society, of Chaoyang (Beijing) Lawyers Association. More than 30 leaders, scholars and lawyers from Ministry of Justice, China Law Society, All-China Lawyers Association (ACLA), Beijing Bureau of Justice, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), East China University of Political Science and Law, Henan University, academic journals, local lawyers’ association and law firms attended the seminar. The seminar was presided by Professor Jinxi Wang (Ph.D. Supervisor in CUPL, deputy director of Institute of Lawyers Science under China Law Society. Professor Baosheng Zhang, the director of the "2011 Plan" - China Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization and Ph.D. Supervisor in CUPL, and Lawyer Guang Yang, the deputy director of Chaoyang (Beijing) Lawyers Association and director of Beijing Lantai Law firm, gave the speeches respectively.
The seminar was divided into five main topics: the background and principle of the revise of the Law on Lawyers, the management of Lawyer Association, the organization form of law firms, the professional ethics and social responsibility of lawyers. Participants had in-depth discussions on the topics, respectively. After each topic, participants enthusiastically put forward opinions and suggestions on relevant issue. This seminar was held to improve the depth of communication between lawyers’ administrators, researchers on lawyers’ and lawyers themselves. Not only does this seminar provide the legal practitioners a chance to learn the cutting-edge theories, but also open the horizons of the legal researchers. The seminar was held successfully, which does a great contribution to the improvement of the lawyers’ system, the reform of the lawyers’ management system as well as the revise of the Law on Lawyers.
