We are very pleased to announce the launch of the “Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine” (ISSN: 2349-5014) in 2015, as an academic journal of the Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL). This peer-reviewed international journal published fully in English aims to be the unique professional journal hosted in China in the field of forensic science and forensic/legal medicine. Forensic science and medicine provide not only scientific evidence in judicial proceedings, but also professional support in the areas of state administration and public safety. Given such an important role of forensic science and medicine in society in the 21st century, it is time to launch the new journal in China: Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine.
Furthermore, China has its own characteristics of forensic science and medicine in comparison with the other countries in the world. Based on the national condition, Chinese forensic scientists have accumulated rich experience through dealing with the enormous and extensive variety of their caseworks; the disciplines of forensic science and medicine are closely related to legal issues in China; Chinese forensic science has its own unique models of higher education and personnel training. All these above factors enable China to provide abundant resources and research achievements for the international forensic science.
In 2013, Institute of Evidence Law and Forensic Science (CUPL) as a member of the first group was enrolled in 2011 Plan - the Collaborative Innovation Center of Judicial Civilization. Meanwhile, it was also authorized with the Project of Higher Education Innovation and Talent Recruitment (111 Plan). The launch of JFSM is one of the essential actions to accomplish the goals of collaborative innovation for judicial civilization.
The mission of JFSM is to “let Chinese forensic science be integrated into the world; let the world know more about Chinese forensic science”. JFSM editorial board comprises many international well-known experts and scholars in related forensic fields, including two academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Dr. Ling LI acts as the Editor-in-Chief, who is a globally famous forensic pathologist, and has professorship with several universities in China and United States. All the editorial board members have engaged in years of research and practice in forensic science and medicine, and will be dedicated in providing the highest quality service to the publication of your manuscripts.
JFSM covers the broadest range of science and medical topics interacting with law. Subjects include but are not limited to criminalistics, digital and multimedia sciences, engineering science, forensic anthropology, forensic clinical medicine, forensic odontology, forensic pathology, forensic biology, forensic radiology, forensic toxicology, jurisprudence, questioned documents, forensic psychiatry and behavioral Science. Submissions of malpractice or ethics in forensic science and medicine are also acceptable. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, case reports, brief communications, commentaries, editorials, and others.
